Sparkling City Chorus thrives because of the energy and style of the people who have stepped up to lead. Here are a few of the people that make our ensemble tick:
Jerrie John is a native born Texas. She joined Sweet Adelines in 1963, and has been active in several chapters in the Dallas area over the years. Her latest affiliation before moving to town was with the Rich-Tone Chorus, 5 time International Champions, and the current reigning champions.
Jerrie works closely with the Sparkling City Chorus musical staff and they put in many hours ro prepare for the rehearsals so that vocal training and music education are taught each week. Every rehearsal is a learning experience for anyone willing to make the effort.
Jerrie is the proud mother of Jeff, and 2 greanddaughters, Emilie and Caroline, who live in the Dallas area.
Mary Hower is a 42 year veteran of Sweet Adelines having sung in six choruses in five states since first joining in Colorado Springs. She has been a proud member of the Sparkling City Chorus for the past eight years. She was elected to the board in 2003 and has served as Ways and Means Chair and Vice President for several years prior to becoming the President in May 2009. In March 2009, she was honored to be selected as Sparkling City's Sweet Adeline of the Year. She currently sings baritone in the chorus.
In her non-Sweet Adeline life, Mary is the attorney on staff for the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the Corpus Christi, Brownsville and McAllen Divisions of the Southern District of Texas Bankruptsy Court.
